Chavaniac-Lafayette ( Occitan : Chavanhac de La Faieta ) is a French commune with 275 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017). It is located in the department of Haute-Loire in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes (before 2016 Auvergne ) and belongs to Arrondissement Brioude and the Canton Pays de Lafayette (2015 Paulhaguet ). The inhabitants are called Chavaniacais .

Chavaniac-Lafayette is about 30 kilometers west-northwest of Le Puy-en-Velay . Chavaniac-Lafayette is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Mazerat-Aurouze in the north, Jax in the east and northeast, Fix-Saint-Geneys in the southeast and Saint-Georges-d'Aurac in the south and west.
