Pinols ( Occitan : Pinòus ) is a French municipality with 3662 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in Haute-Loire in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes (before 2016 Auvergne ); it belongs to the Arrondissement Brioude and is part of the canton Gorges de l'Allier-Gévaudan (until 2015 Pinols ). The inhabitants are called Pinolais .

geography

Pinols is about 36 kilometers west of Le Puy-en-Velay . Pinols is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Cronce and Ferrussac in the north, Langeac in the northeast, Tailhac in the east, Desges in the southeast, Auvers in the south, Clavières in the southwest and Chastel in the west.

The Dolmen de la Thuile aux Fées is located on the border with Tailhac .
