Thora is a French municipality with 229 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in Haute-Loire in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes (before 2016 Auvergne ). It belongs to the Arrondissement Brioude , to the community association Les Rives du Haut Allier and to the cantons of Gorges de l'Allier-Gévaudan (until 2015 Saugues ).

Thoras is about 37 kilometers southwest of Le Puy-en-Velay . Thoras is surrounded by the neighboring communities
- Esplantas-Vazeilles in the north,
- Saint-Préjet-d'Allier , Alleyras and Saint-Vénérand to the northeast
- Bel-Air-Val-d'Ance with Chambon-le-Château in the east and northeast and Saint-Symphorien in the east and southeast,

- Chanaleilles in the west.
