The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Brioude and the canton of Brioude (until 2015: canton of Brioude-Sud ).

Bournoncle-Saint-Pierre is about 56 kilometers northwest of Le Puy-en-Velay . Bournoncle-Saint-Pierre is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Vergongheon in the north, Cohade in the east, Beaumont in the south, Saint-Géron in the west and Lempdes-sur-Allagnon in the north-west.
The municipality's population is divided into the districts of Bournoncle , Laroche , Bard , Barlières , Peyssanges , Les Combes and Arvant .
The national route 102 and the railway line from Saint-Germain-des-Fossés to Nîmes-Courbessac run through the municipality , from which the branch line to Figeac branches off in the Arvant district .

Attractions
- Romanesque church of Saint-Pierre from the 12th / 13th centuries Century in the hamlet of Bournoncle. The outside simple church was declared a Monument Historique in 1963 because of its interior design .
- Castle ruins in the district of Laroche with preserved donjon .
