The real story behind Scarface and Miami Vice - Cocaine Cowboys is an American documentary about the drug import and the-bringing with it conflicts within the drug scene in Miami ( Florida ) during the 1970s and 1980s.

On July 29, 2008, the sequel Cocaine Cowboys 2 , also known as Cocaine Cowboys II: Hustlin 'With the Godmother, was released .

The film documents cocaine production in Colombia , drug imports into the USA , sales by the Cubans and the conflicts that resulted within the drug community in Miami (Florida) during the 1970s and 1980s, with high-quality archive images and interviews with lawyers, journalists, former drug smugglers and gang members to provide a "first hand perspective" of the Miami drug scene. The former hit man Jorge "Rivi" Ayala talks about his work for Griselda Blanco . Former drug trafficker Jon Roberts talks about working with Rafael Caro Quintero and Max Mermelstein , drug baron Jorge Luis Ochoa , Pablo Escobar and her relationship with Manuel Noriega in Panama to keep their funds safe. There is also talk of the national recession caused by drug money in the late 1970s.
