The Don is Dead (AKA The Don is Dead ) is an American Mafia film the director Richard Fleischer . It is the film adaptation of the novel The Don is Dead by Marvin H. Albert , who wrote the script together with Christopher Trumbo and Michael Butler . Anthony Quinn can be seen in the lead role .

After the death of the mafia boss Don Paolo, the power structure in the underworld of Las Vegas is mixed up. Don Angelo wants to take over the management of the Mafia, which Frank, Don Paolo's son, does not like. When Frank and Don Angelo fall in love with the same woman, it leads to a gang war, at the end of which Tony takes over power.
