Richard H. Kline

Richard Howard Kline (born November 15, 1926 in Los Angeles , California - † August 7, 2018 there ) was an American cameraman .

Life

In 1943, Kline finished high school . From 1944 to 1946 he served in the United States Navy . The son of the cameraman Benjamin H. Kline began his career as a camera operator (camera operator) and camera assistant (camera assistant) in the film In 80 Days Around the World from 1956, with David Niven in the lead role. His father had managed to get him into the camera division of Columbia Pictures .

Since 1964 Kline has acted as Director of Photography (chief cameraman), initially for several television productions.

Kline was nominated twice for an Oscar , first in 1968 for Camelot - At the Court of King Arthur , then in 1977 for King Kong . Both times he came away empty-handed. In 2006 he received the ASC Lifetime Achievement Award for his life's work . In total, he was involved in more than 50 productions as chief cameraman.

Kline was the father of two children. He died at the age of 91.
