Life
theatre
After graduating from high school in 1963 at the Friedrich-Wilhelm-Gymnasium in Cologne, Brückner first studied German , drama and journalism at the Free University of Berlin , but left without a degree. Parallel to his studies, he took acting classes and received speech lessons. This was followed by engagements at theaters in Berlin, Klagenfurt, Freiburg im Breisgau and New York, including in the vocal play Unter dem Milchwald by Dylan Thomas , staged by Brückner , as Heinrich Heine in Der Doppelganger and in the prison production And they handcuff the flowers by the Spanish-French playwright Fernando Arrabal . 2007 joined Brückner as Sigmund Freud in The Method of Christopher Hampton in Ernst German Theater in Hamburg.
synchronization
Through the synchronization of Warren Beatty in Bonnie and Clyde (1967) and especially by Peter Gilmore in the popular British television series The Onedin Line (1972), his distinctive voice became known to a wide audience. Since The Godfather II (1974) he has been the voice of the American character actor Robert De Niro , two years later the responsible director Martin Scorsese selected him for the synchronization of Taxi Driver (1976). With the exception of individual productions, Brückner has dubbed the two-time Oscar winner in over sixty of his films to date. At irregular intervals he lent his voice to other actors such as Martin Sheen ( Apocalypse Now ), Peter Fonda , Peter Riegert ( Local Hero ), Harvey Keitel and Burt Reynolds ; he has also dubbed the voices of Gary Oldman , Robert Redford , Dennis Hopper , Gérard Depardieu , Donald Sutherland and Jon Voight .
Audio productions

The edition was awarded the German Audiobook Prize in 2005 in the “The Special Audiobook” category.

In addition, he played staged readings with a wind orchestra in alternating formation , during which he performed the musical work Ahab! accompanied by composer Stephen Melillo with excerpts from Moby-Dick . The translation of the text came from Brückner himself. Together with the trumpeter Michael Leuschner (* 1962) and his band Brückner performed in 2007 and 2010 under the program title Prince of Darkness with passages from the autobiography of the important jazz trumpeter Miles Davis .
In the Brückner Beat production , released by Hazelwood Records in 2001, he recited texts by authors and protagonists of the so-called Beat Generation . The background music was provided by the Lone World Trio around his son Kai Brückner , who appeared as a guitarist. In 2003 he published the album Brückner Bukowski with texts by the American poet and writer Charles Bukowski , also musically staged by Kai Brückner and the formation Yakou Tribe.
