Cut ( spelling CUT das broadcast-magazin ) is a specialist magazine for journalism in electronic media . It was founded in 1997 in Frankfurt am Main . Since 2003 the magazine has been subtitled “Das Broadcast-Magazin”. With the December 2008 edition, the print version was discontinued. The magazine will continue to be operated in a greatly reduced online version . Reporting focuses on industry reports and new technical developments.

history

Cut was considered the leading German-language specialist magazine for audio and video technology in the broadcasting sector and most recently had a print run of 8,100 copies. Initially, Cut appeared together with Medium Magazin , which subsequently specialized in the print sector, in the Salzburg media publisher Oberauer . From 2003 the magazine was published by its own publishing house, CUT Media GmbH, based in Frankfurt am Main, and appeared monthly.

Florian Schwinn was the editor-in-chief until 2008 . Since the June 2008 edition, Cut has been led by Kurt Estel (publisher and editor-in-chief), who is also responsible for the online version.

Press reviews

The BBC calls Cut “the leading broadcast magazine in German language”. Walther von La Roche says: “ The practice paper for radio and TV is the bi-monthly magazine 'Cut'. It brings personal details and news from the scene, specialist articles about radio and TV professions and activities, and a lot of technology, not only for studios, but also for freelancers, at home or on the go.
