Fernando Arrabal
Fernando Arrabal Terán (born August 11, 1932 in Melilla , Spain ) is a Spanish-French writer , poet and playwright of the absurd theater .
Life
Fernando Arrabal learned to read and write in Ciudad Rodrigo near Salamanca . At the age of ten he was recognized as gifted and studied at the Complutense University of Madrid .
The mysterious disappearance of the father, who fled after his death sentence, left lasting traces. The poet Vicente Aleixandre sees the entire work of Arrabal as - as a result of trauma - shaped by a moral light.
In 1956 Arrabal went into exile in Paris .
Arrabal made seven feature films and published around 100 plays, 700 volumes of poetry, many essays and the well-known letter to General Franco during his lifetime. His dramatic work (in Spain in two volumes over 2000 pages) Colección Clásicos Castellanos by the Espasa publishing house has been translated many times (in France by the Christian Bourgois and Actes Sud publishers ).
Arrabal co-founded the “ Mouvement Panique ” with Roland Topor and Alejandro Jodorowsky . Since 1990 he has been "Transcendent Satrape" (Extraordinary Satrap) of the " Collège de 'Pataphysique ".
“A crazy, brutal, lively, lustfully provocative theater. A dramaturgical potlatch where the skeleton of our 'progress' society is charred on the ceremonial ramp in a permanent revolution. He inherited clarity from Kafka and humor from Jarry. He got the violence from de Sade and Artaud. But with his scorn he went the furthest. Deeply political and cheerful, playful, revolting and bohemian, this is a syndrome of barbed wire and goulags of our century. "
