Anita Louise
Anita Louise Fremault (born January 9, 1915 in New York City , † April 25, 1970 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American actress .
Life
Anita Louise began her career at the age of six as a child actress in the theater. Already at the age of 9 she appeared regularly as Louise Fermault in film productions, but did not get beyond the status of an extra. Since 1929 she officially appeared as Anita Louise. The actress managed to switch to adult roles and in 1931 she was elected one of the WAMPAS Baby Stars . Louise was one of the best looking actresses in the 1930s. Under contract with Warner Brothers , she was preferred due to her appearance in historical roles, including as Titania in A Midsummer Night's Dream , alongside Fredric March in A Restless Life and alongside Bette Davis in Three Sisters from Montana . One of the best-known appearances of her career was her role as Princess de Lamballe in Marie-Antoinette from 1938. Overall, the actress rarely got beyond major supporting roles in the course of her career. She was one of the numerous actresses who were cast for the role of Scarlett O'Hara in Gone With The Wind . After 1939, Anita Louise was mainly seen in B-movies .
In the 1950s she switched to television, where she was able to gain new popularity as a mother in the series Flicka in 1956 . She also made numerous guest appearances, including on the Loretta Young Show , Mannix and Mod Squad . She had two children with her first husband, producer Buddy Adler , whom she married in 1940. In 1962 she married her second husband, Henry Berger. Anita Louise became increasingly involved in charity in later years and was a noted philanthropist . Politically a staunch Republican , Anita Louise took part in the inauguration of Dwight D. Eisenhower . She died on April 25, 1970 of complications from a stroke.
A star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at 6801 Hollywood Boulevard commemorates her.
