Tim Isfort (* 1967 in Mannheim ) is a German musician , producer and arranger .

Career

Isfort, who grew up in Moers, studied classical double bass and electric bass at the Folkwang University of Music in Duisburg and at the conservatory in Arnhem, the Netherlands . In 1995 he founded the Tim Isfort Orchestra with up to 40 members , which plays idiosyncratic combinations of entertainment, film, jazz and pop music with changing guest musicians (including Blixa Bargeld and Katharina Thalbach ).

His project Tim Isfort Super8 , which was founded in 2004, is a bizarre-cast octet that processes and interprets songs from a wide variety of genres, adds German lyrics and plays live to image recordings. The texts mostly come from guest copywriters such as Tom Liwa , Christian Brückner and Eva Kurowski .

He also worked as a bass player for groups such as The Dorf, Planet Alien Band, Franza & die lemonairs . Isfort also writes theater music ( Schlosstheater Moers , Sommerblut Festival Cologne, Theater Bremerhaven) and film music; he also arranged for Einstürzende Neubauten , John Grant and Tom Liwa .

From 2009 to June 2012 Tim Isfort was the artistic director of the Traumzeit Festival . He has been the director of the moers festival since 2017 .
