Blixa cash
Blixa Bargeld (* 12. January 1959 in West Berlin as a Christian Emmerich , bourgeois Christian Cash ) is a German musician , performance artist , composer , author and actor . He is the front man of the band Einstürzende Neubauten and founding member of the band Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds , in which he worked as a guitarist until 2003. His pseudonym is a tribute to the Dadaist artist Johannes Theodor Baargeld . The first name comes from a fiber pen brand .
After his wife Erin had her last name officially changed from Zhu to the stage name Bargeld , he took it over and has been called Christian Bargeld since then , but publicly only uses the artist's first name Blixa.
Life
Bargeld grew up in the western part of Berlin , where he attended the Paul-Natorp-Gymnasium in the Friedenau district . He became known as the founder and singer of the group Einstürzende Neubauten and was guitarist for the band Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds from 1984 to 2003 . He was also considered a co-founder of the Genialer Dilletanten festival . He also released two solo albums.
In 1987 he appeared as a member of "Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds" in Wim Wenders ' film Der Himmel über Berlin . In 1988 he played a leading role in the film Nihil, or All Time in the World by Uli M Schueppel . At the end of the 1990s he played a pyromaniac sadist in an RTL crime thriller with Iris Berben . He was also seen in the 1996 film The Total Therapy in a leading role as a psychotherapy guru. In 1996 the short film Blixa Bargeld Stole My Cowboy Boots with Michael Imperioli in the leading role was made, in which Bargeld did not appear himself. In 1999, cash was committed to the US feature film The Mummy . In the film he took over the “mummy growling” as part of the “sound design”, so he is responsible for the mummy utterances (screaming, hissing, etc.). Bargeld also worked in commercials for the Hornbach hardware store chain .
In 1990 he recorded a version of Müller's Hamlet machine together with FM Einheit and Heiner Müller .
Bargeld was involved in theater projects by Heiner Müller , Werner Schwab and Peter Zadek . Since the mid-1990s, Bargeld has also performed live as a solo artist with what are known as speech / speech performances . He is often technically supported by the sound engineer Boris Wilsdorf .
In 2001 he worked as a speaker on the radio play version of Michel Houellebecq's novel Elementarteilchen and contributed the music in collaboration with the composer Jan Tilman Schade .
In 2005 he staged for the Salzburg Festival Waiting for the Barbarians by JM Coetzee .
Bargeld was a self-confessed vegetarian for 30 years until he started eating meat again for the sake of his wife. He is married to the mathematician Erin Zhu , the couple have a daughter.
According to his own statements, Bargeld no longer uses his real name and is even addressed by his mother by the stage name Blixa. Today he lives mainly in Berlin and at times in San Francisco.
In the movie Death to the Hippies !! Long live punk (2015) he is portrayed by Alexander Scheer .
In 2016 and 2017, Bargeld was each awarded a prize for pop culture for his participation in Long Live Death ( Casper ) in the categories “Favorite Song” and “Favorite Video”.
