The bankruptcy book publisher Claudia Gehrke is a book publisher in Tübingen, whose book program focuses, among other things, on eroticism and Japan .

history

Claudia Gehrke held a Wednesday salon from 1976 to 1980 , in which the idea for a political-literary magazine was born - the bankruptcy book (as an answer to the course book ). The first bankruptcy book appeared on April 1, 1978 on the subject of "Reason and Emancipation". The bankruptcy book collects essays, prose, poetry, photography and art on a specific topic. The konkursbuch Verlag was founded by Claudia Gehrke and Peter Pörtner. Peter Pörtner went to Japan in 1979 and became Professor of Japanese Studies at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich in 1992 . Claudia Gehrke continues to run the publishing house on her own. In 1983, a three-day Tübingen discussion with the French philosopher Jean Beaudrillard and German intellectuals such as Michael Rutschky , Gert Mattenklott and Gerd Bergfleth appeared under the title Der Tod der Moderne .

From the 6th volume of the bankruptcy book (1982, topic: Erotik) the independent yearbook My secret eye developed . A lawsuit brought against Volume 10 of My Secret Eye in 1995 for alleged pornography ended in 1999 with an acquittal by the publisher. My lesbian eye and My gay eye appear annually .

In 2019 the publisher received the German Publishing Award .

Publishing program

The publishing program includes general fiction, the love life series, thrillers, travel literature (especially on the Canary Islands and Japan), erotic literature and photo books.

Photographers whose illustrated books are published by konkursbuch Verlag include Thomas Karsten , Rinaldo Hopf , Anja Müller and Brigitte Maria Mayer . In 2010 the publishing house was awarded the Baden-Württemberg state prize for smaller publishers with literary ambitions.

Events

The Konkursbuch Verlag regularly organizes the erotic publisher's review Love Bites . The program consists of burlesque dance, performances, singing, instrumental music and erotic readings. The Love Bites find u. a. in Berlin, Karlsruhe, Tübingen, Frankfurt and Leipzig. Participating performers include a. Burlesque dancer Bana Banana, quick-change artist Bridge Markland, cellist Veronique and much more
