Transverse publisher
The cross-Verlag bills itself as "Germany's first and only lesbian and gay book publisher". It was founded in 1995 by Ilona Bubeck and Jim Baker with the aim of publishing literature with gay and lesbian content. Its seat is in Berlin.

The publisher publishes novels and non-fiction books, and since 1995 there have been around 300 publications. The non-fiction area includes guides and reference works through to basic scientific literature such as Annamarie Jagose's Queer Theory - An Introduction , Lutz van Dijks I was never lonely - Gays under the swastika 1933–1945 or the borders of lesbian identities , edited by Sabine Hark . The publishing house focuses on the discovery and promotion of German-speaking lesbian and gay authors. The best-known include Stephan Niederwieser , Peter Ralf Hofmann , Karen-Susan Fessel , Antje Wagner , Karin Rick , Ariane Rüdiger , Axel Schock , Jan Stressenreuter , René Oltmanns , Regina Nössler , Vojin Saša Vukadinović and Malou Berlin . The publisher was particularly well known for its series of political pamphlets, later known as the “Kreischreihe”, which have been discussing controversial, queer-political and activist issues in the form of anthologies with a similar layout since 2016. Among other things, this includes the much discussed book “Beißreflexe” with contributions by 29 authors from the left, queer and feminist fields. In 2019, Querverlag received the "Ehren-Stöckel" from the "Travestie für Deutschland" initiative for special commitment to LGBTI visibility. As well as the "Soul of Stonewall" award from LSVD Germany. In August 2020, Querverlag celebrated its 25th anniversary.
