Parlando Publishing House
The Parlando Verlag is a German audio book publisher based in Berlin . It was founded in 2000 by the married couple Waltraut and Christian Brückner and since then has mainly published audio books that Christian Brückner reads.

The actor and voice actor Christian Brückner has been working in the field of radio plays , television features and literature reading since the early 1970s . In 2000, he and his wife Waltraut founded their own audio book publisher. The couple came up with the idea of producing audio books in the 1980s during a two-year stay in the USA. While Christian Brückner speaks the audio books, Waltraut Brückner is responsible for bookkeeping and the selection of new publications and directs them .
After the previous sales partners Hoffmann and Campe and Random House Audio , Argon Verlag has been responsible for sales and marketing since July 2015. Argon took over Parlando Verlag in January 2017. Waltraut and Christian Brückner are still responsible for the program.
In 2005 Parlando Verlag received the German Audiobook Prize in the category The Special Audiobook for its entire program . A total of 140 titles had been produced by 2012. For a long time the bestseller was the Communist Manifesto, which was read in 2000 .

The Parlando Verlag has a wide program: prose , poetry and political literature , the "[...] awakens corresponds to the literary sense of Vorlesers Christian Brückner his love of reading and reading inspires his art," according to the eulogy Hörbuchpreis. Published authors include Herman Melville ( Bartleby , Billy Budd ), John Updike , James Salter , Don DeLillo ( Falling Man ), Raymond Chandler , Raymond Carver, and Denis Johnson . Since 2005 the publishing audio books produced by the Canadian Alice Munro , Nobel Prize winner of 2013 ( The bear climbed over the mountain , tricks , What do you know? , Too much happiness , love life ).
Classics of European literature such as Joseph von Eichendorff ( From the life of a good-for-nothing ), Friedrich Hölderlin ( Hyperion ), Adalbert Stifter ( Brigitta ), Gustave Flaubert ( Madame Bovary ), Joseph Conrad ( Heart of Darkness ), Chekhov , Arthur Schnitzler ( Dream Novel ) , Rainer Maria Rilke ( The Notes of Malte Laurids Brigge ), Franz Kafka ( The Trial ) and Walter Benjamin ( The Artwork in the Age of Its Technical Reproducibility ) are also part of the publishing program, as are poetry anthologies by Novalis , Ossip Mandelstam , Paul Celan , Gottfried Benn or Jelaleddin Rumi .
