German reading award
The German Reading Prize is a nationwide reading competition in Germany for participants of all ages with the aim of promoting reading and reading aloud in general , as well as recognizing the social commitment of volunteer readers .
The organizers advertise that the German Reading Prize has been scientifically supported since 2012.
Award and categories
Since it was launched in 2006, the German Reading Prize has been awarded annually in different categories. A separate application is usually required for participation. A jury of experts and celebrities, known as “reading godparents”, evaluates the applications and awards the winners in a final event. In addition, the jury awards various special prizes to personalities and organizations with a thematic reference.
history
In 2006 the Cologne-based company Intersnack Knabber-Pastry launched the German Reading Prize, of which it has been sponsoring ever since. In autumn 2006, reading campaigns took place for the first time in the run-up to the Frankfurt Book Fair . Since then, reading events have been held nationwide as part of the competition. In recent years, applications have been based on different mottos. For example, in 2011, on one hundred and two days, “a hundred and two animals that do not exist, in a hundred and two places that we dream of” were read aloud.
