The Intersnack Knabber -änke GmbH & Co. KG was created in 1995 through the merger of the Convent Group and the company Wolf Snack undänke GmbH and produces snacks . The company's headquarters are in Cologne . Production facilities are located in Alsbach-Hähnlein , Frankenthal / Petersau and Wevelinghoven . The company Pellsnack Products GmbH is a subsidiary of Intersnack and distributes snack pellets and other snacks as semi-finished products to industrial customers.

history

The company's history goes one hand on Irmgard von Opel back, with her two sons in 1962 in the domestic Good Petersau Carlo and Heinz chip production under the brand Chio ( C arlo- H einz- I rmgard- O began pel).

Six years later, the Pfeifer & Langen company in Cologne began producing potato chips under the Chipsfrisch brand . The merger of Chipsfrisch with part of the Pfanni company led to the founding of the company funny-frisch in 1972 , which then merged with Chio-Chips in the Convent Group in 1977 . The Wolf Bergstrasse company can look back on almost 100 years of history. In 1967 his goldfischli brand came onto the market, under which all “Wolf” snack products are sold today. The merger of Wolf Bergstrasse with the Convent Group in 1995 finally led to the establishment of Intersnack Knabber -äck GmbH & Co. KG . The Trüller company , which was founded in Celle by factory owner Harry Trüller in 1896 , is also part of the Cologne-based Intersnack Group. The focus was originally on sweet pastries; today, however, almost only salty snacks are sold. In 2000, the EU approved a cooperation between Intersnack and Ültje , Granaria Food Group and May Holding in the field of nut products. In 2007 Intersnack took over the Austrian chips producer Kelly and a 15% share in the Irish snack producer Largo. The brands produced by the Intersnack company today include Chio and funny-frisch as well as the brands Pom-Bär (snack pellets ) and goldfischli (formerly “Wolf Bergstrasse”). The takeover of the Nut Company in 2008 also brought the Ültje brand to Intersnack.

In December 2012, Intersnack took over the British company KP Snacks from United Biscuits for 500 million pounds (today the equivalent of 595,000,000 euros). In 2013 Intersnack took over the Salt & Pepper company with the Spreeback and Pauly brands and integrated the Krieschow- Kolkwitz production facility into the company as the fifth location in Germany; the production facility in Krieschow was closed in March 2020.

The snack and smile Company GmbH , founded in Hamburg in 1976, is a sales subsidiary of Intersnack and supplies Aldi Süd ( Sun Snacks label ) and Aldi Nord ( Feurich label ). Over the Top Snacks GmbH are Lidl (label Crusti Croc ), Penny (Label Bravo ) and REWE (Label yes ) supplies.

In 1972 the company transferred 190,000 DM (equivalent to around 310,000 euros based on today's purchasing power) to the current third division soccer club SV Waldhof Mannheim . This was then renamed Chio Waldhof Mannheim 07 . In 1975 the name was changed to SV Chio Waldhof 07. The club carried this name until 1978.

The German reading award was sponsored by Intersnack in 2012 under its brand name PomBär .

For ten years, Intersnack designed the Fit am Ball project in partnership with the German Sport University Cologne . The initiative provided material and didactic support to school sports at over 2,000 schools and leisure groups. The project ended in 2013. Intersnack also founded the Der Deutsche Vorlesepreis initiative . The aim of the competition was to stimulate the desire to read and read aloud and to reward volunteer reading. The engagement ended in 2013.
