The ültje GmbH is a manufacturer of peanuts and other nut specialties such. B. Nut-fruit mixes, headquartered in Schwerte . Another production site is in Olsberg in the Sauerland.
history
In 1867 Alfred Russell had his company Russell KG entered in the commercial register in Emden . His successors roasted peanuts in Emden for the first time in 1949 and sold them under the “ültje” brand . “Ültje” means “peanut” in East Frisian Low German . In the mid-1960s, ültje cooperated with the Oetker Group, to which the company belonged from 1985 to 1997.
ültje was taken over in 1997 by Felix GmbH & Co. KG. In 2000, ültje, Felix and the Dutch company Granaria Food merged their nut activities. This connection resulted in The Nut Company (TNC), the largest nut group in Europe. After the merger, ültje relocated production and administration to Schwerte, where the Felix company had been based since 1968. Today ültje sells its products in Germany, Austria, Italy and Slovenia.
In 2008 The Nut Company merged with Intersnack to form the " Intersnack Group ". This in turn is owned by the Pfeifer and Langen families , who also head the food company of the same name.
The “ültje man”, embodied by the Austrian actor Andreas Steppan , was the company's advertising element in the 1990s. In 1989 he started with the first TV spots and the song "Hardly I stand here and sing", the melody of which comes from the song Cool For Cats by the group Squeeze . In 1996 Stefan Raab sang the ültje song.
Products
The product range includes ültje peanuts, nut mixtures (z. B. trail mix ), mixtures fruit and nut, other nuts (such as cashews and pistachios), teigummantelte peanuts and peanut creams . "Roasted and salted peanuts" and "Roasted peanuts without fat" are just as much a part of the standard range of ültje GmbH as the "Original Student Food". As a nut mix, ültje offers two variants of the "Cashew-Peanut Mix". In addition, ültje offers unroasted and unsalted nuts under the name "ültje pur".
