Janine Steeger (born July 19, 1976 in Engelskirchen ) is a German television presenter and journalist .

Life

After graduating from high school in Engelskirchen in 1996, she studied politics , German and geography in Cologne . She gained her first journalistic experience at the North Rhine-Westphalian local radio Radio Berg . From 1998 to 2000 she completed an apprenticeship as an advertising clerk .

After a traineeship at the Munich TV station ProSieben , she worked as a reporter for RTL magazine Explosiv - Das Magazin from 2000 . As of June 2002, she moderated from Hamburg RTL's regional window Good evening RTL for Hesse , which she also hosted national from Hamburg in January of 2005.

From January to December 2006 she was a live reporter and editor for the Sat.1 magazine Akt - Reporter auf den auf , moderated by Ulrich Meyer .

Again she could be seen as a presenter on Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk (MDR). In 2007 Steeger presented the program Sachsenspiegel there .

On March 31, 2008 she returned to RTL and acted as the successor to Markus Lanz Explosiv - Das Magazin . At the beginning of 2015, she announced that she had terminated her employment contract with RTL. She hosted her last Explosiv broadcast on March 7, 2015.

In response to resignation, she said: “On my own path to a more sustainable life, at some point I even quit my well-paid, former dream job as a television presenter because I couldn't land on the station with my heartfelt issues. Then I started to work as an event moderator with a focus on environmental protection and sustainability. "

Since then she has also been working as a freelance journalist.

Steeger is also involved in the “Don't Forget Aids” campaign by appearing in their TV spots, among other things.

Her book Going Green: Why you don't have to be perfect to protect the climate was published in 2020 .
