Peter Gilmore

Peter Gilmore (born August 25, 1931 in Leipzig , † February 3, 2013 in London ) was a British actor .

Life

Peter Gilmore came to England at the age of six and then dropped out of school at 14 to study acting at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts until he was expelled. During his brief stint in the army, he became passionate about singing and then joined the George Mitchell Singers .

In the 1960s he was a member of the successful "carry-on troupe" in the Ist ja crazy ... film comedies.

However, he achieved international fame in the 1970s as ship owner James Onedin , the central figure in the British television series The Onedin Line .

In 1958/59 he played a recurring role in the television series Ivanhoe alongside Roger Moore .

Private

Peter Gilmore was married in third marriage to Anne Stallybrass since 1987 , who had played his wife in the television series The Onedin Line , in the first two seasons (episodes 1-29).
