Volker Degener

Volker W. Degener (born June 12, 1941 in Berlin ) is a German police officer and writer. He writes novels , short stories , radio plays , books for children and young people and lives in Herne .

Live and act

Degener grew up in Bochum and Düsseldorf. Until 2001 he worked in the police service of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia as a specialist teacher, security officer, press spokesman for Police President Bochum and head of the commissariat in Herne.

In his books he is primarily concerned with the reality of young people's lives. His main topics are: aggression , violence against children , fear , crime , environmental protection .

From 1985 to 1997 Degener was a full member of the WDR Broadcasting Council as the writer's representative . He is a member of the international authors' association Die Kogge , in the German-speaking PEN and in the association of German-speaking crime authors SYNDIKAT . Since 1971 he has been a member of the Association of German Writers in ver.di ; There he was from 1978 to 1995, as well as 1997-1998 and again from June 2016 to April 2018 the chairman of the state association of North Rhine-Westphalia. His successor in office is Sabine Lipan.
