Hugo Ernst Buyer (born February 13, 1927 in Witten ; † May 9, 2014 in Legden ) was a German librarian and writer .

Life

Hugo Ernst Buyer came from a working-class family. From 1945 to 1953 he worked as an administrative clerk in Witten. From 1954 on he completed a librarianship course at the Librarian Training Institute of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia (today Cologne University of Applied Sciences ), which he completed in 1957 with the diploma examination. From 1957 to 1966 he was a consultant at the Bochum city library, from 1966 to 1977 chief editor and from 1977 to 1987 director of the Gelsenkirchen city library. In 1967 he was one of the founders of the Gelsenkirchen Literary Workshop , from which the Working Group Literature of the Working World emerged in 1971 . Buyer lived in Legden in his last years and was chairman of the board of the Liselotte and Walter Rauner Foundation in Bochum until his death .
