E Nomine (literally "From the name", based on the Latin in nomine , "in the name") was a German-language music project.

history

E Nomine was founded in 1999 by producers Christian "Chris Tentum" Weller and Friedrich "Sir Fritz" Graner. The project was published through licensee David Brunner. The music corresponds to a combination of trance / techno and a vocal accompaniment that is reminiscent of Gregorian and classical Gregorian vocals . The producers themselves described this style of music as "Monumental Dance".

Like the name of the project, the texts not only have a Christian -religious background, they also deal with mystical sacreds, stories and legends about magic and the struggle between good and evil. Biblical content such as Psalm 23 , the devil (“God's contribution and the devil's work”), the Ave Maria or prophecies (“Black Sun” from The Prophecy ) are also taken up.

Dubbing of well-known actors like Robert De Niro ( Christian Brückner ), Al Pacino ( Frank Glaubrecht ), Bruce Willis ( Manfred Lehmann ), Anthony Hopkins ( Joachim Kerzel ), Robert Redford ( Rolf Schult ), Nicolas Cage ( Martin Keßler ), John Travolta ( Thomas Danneberg ), Brad Pitt ( Tobias Meister ), Mel Gibson ( Elmar Wepper , Frank Glaubrecht, Joachim Tennstedt ), Liv Tyler ( Elisabeth Günther ) and many more stood in front of the microphone for the titles of E Nomine. The titles are visually represented in music videos by Senad Fuerzkelper Giccic.

From 2005 onwards it became quiet about E Nomine. Friedrich "Sir Fritz" Graner left the project. In the meantime, a new single called "Heilig" was announced for the end of 2007, but it was never officially released. Since the single was available for download for a short time, it came into circulation on platforms such as MyVideo and YouTube . With “Excalibur”, which, like “Heilig”, was planned for a new album (and actually called “Erdenblut (Stahl von Avalon)”), there is another song that was only played once live.

In 2008 Fritz Graner and Christian Weller founded the project “ Schlafes Bruder ” as “Evolution E Nomines” , which in 2013 released the singles “Heilig” and “Absolution” as well as the album “Today was God not here”.
