The Prophecy is the third studio album from the German music project E Nomine . It was released on April 14, 2003 on the Polydor and Maxximum Records labels as a standard and classic edition. It was also released as an SACD and DVD version and on November 10, 2003 a special edition of the album was released.

The album was produced by E-Nomine members Christian Weller and Fritz Graner and licensee David Brunner . All three also acted as executive producers . It was recorded in the Ramses Studio in Berlin and in the Bauer Studios in Ludwigsburg .

Involved speakers

The lyrics of the songs on the album are spoken by eleven well-known German voice actors. These are Christian Brückner (voice of Robert De Niro ), Jürgen Thormann (voice of Max von Sydow ), Tobias Meister (voice of Brad Pitt , Kiefer Sutherland and Sean Penn ), Frank Glaubrecht (voice of Al Pacino , Pierce Brosnan and Kevin Costner ), Volker Brandt (voice of Michael Douglas ), Thomas Danneberg (voice of Rutger Hauer , John Travolta and Arnold Schwarzenegger ), Gerrit Schmidt-Foss (voice of Leonardo DiCaprio ), Wolfgang Pampel (voice of Harrison Ford ), Elmar Wepper (voice by Mel Gibson ), Helmut Krauss (voice of Samuel L. Jackson ) and Michael Chevalier (voice of Oliver Reed and Omar Sharif ).

The classical edition also features the voice actors Elisabeth Günther (voice of Liv Tyler ), Joachim Tennstedt (voice of John Malkovich ), Martin Keßler (voice of Nicolas Cage and Vin Diesel ) and Detlef Bierstedt (voice of George Clooney ), while Otto Mellies (voice of Christopher Lee ) and the actor Ralf Moeller are also represented on the special edition .

Upside down pentagram

Cover design

The album cover shows an upside down pentagram surrounded by a burning ring. In front of it is the title Die Prophezeiung in red, while the gray and white lettering E Nomine is in the upper part of the picture. The background is kept in dark tones. The classic edition has the same motif. However, the background is lighter and the title Die Prophezeiung is written in white letters with the addition of Classic Edition . The cover of the special edition, on the other hand, shows a black winged horse jumping through an orange beam of light. The lettering E Nomine in gray-white and Die Prophezeiung in red-orange are in the upper part of the picture.

Chart successes and singles

The prophecy entered the German album charts at number 12 on April 28, 2003 and in the following weeks it was 18 and 19. Overall, the album stayed in the top 100 for eleven weeks with one break. It was also able to do so in Austria and Switzerland place the sound carrier in the charts.

The song Deine Welt was released as the first single in December 2002 . It reached position 24 in the German charts and stayed in the top 100 for eleven weeks. The second single followed with Das Omen im Kreis des Böse at the end of March 2003, which also reached number 24 in the charts and stayed in the top 100 for nine weeks. In addition, in October 2003 the song Black Sun was released in the version with the actor Ralf Moeller , which is only included on the special edition of the album. The third single reached number 36 in the German charts and stayed in the top 100 for six weeks.

The online magazine laut.de gave the album three out of a possible five points:

“ E Nomine try to draw the listener into their dark world with the help of the usual elements, such as the gigantic chorals, the German synchronizer voices of famous actors, the sometimes overwhelming beats. However, they only partially succeed in this. Too many tracks are simply made up of the same pattern. [...] If E Nomine doesn't implement this scheme, you get to hear really nice songs. Songs like the quieter "Laetitia", which doesn't suffer from absurd changes in tempo, are bright spots. "
