The Bauer Studios in Ludwigsburg are the oldest privately owned German recording studio . The original establishment by Rolf Bauer took place on December 28, 1948 when a business was registered by the city of Ludwigsburg. Because of the imminent New Year, 1949 was later set as the year of foundation. Through a change of name and a generation change in July 1989, the current legal form was created as a GmbH .

In addition to professional music and voice recordings in two recording studios, Bauer Studios offer live recording, several mastering studios, authoring for DVD and SACD and maintain several CD labels and a music publisher . A major line of business is the production of CD and DVD.
