Ahlam Ali Al Shamsi ( Arabic أحلام, DMG Aḥlām ; born on February 13, 1969 in Abu Dhabi ) is a singer from the United Arab Emirates . Her career began in 1994. She is one of the most famous singers from the Arab countries of the Persian Gulf and in all of the Arab countries.

Life

Ahlam first grew up in Bahrain before returning to her native country, the United Arab Emirates. There she completed her high school and university education. Her interest in music developed as a child and she performed at school performances and local events. She came into contact with the music industry through the Kuwaiti composer Anwar Abdullah and was able to sign a contract with the Funoon Al Emarat label in 1995, where her first albums were released. In 2006 she switched to the more renowned Rotana Records label. She released a total of ten albums, with which she gained fame especially in the Middle East and North Africa. In this region, together with Hussein Al Jassim, she is counted among the most important representatives of "Khaleeji Pop". On August 22nd, 2015 she sang at Olympia (Paris) .

In addition to her work as a singer, Ahlam is also a member of the jury for the talent show Arab Idol on MBC .

She has been married to Mubarak Al Hajiri since 2003.
