For the portrayal of the bail agent Max Cherry , he received an Oscar nomination for best supporting actor , which resulted in a career boost . He was also on for this role City Kansas Film Critics Circle as Best Supporting Actor award. In this film, he can be seen alongside Pam Grier , who had also earned a reputation as a B-movie actress.

Forster had resulted in two remakes of Hitchcock classics as: In 1998, he starred in a remake of Rear Window with the same title a detective in Gus Van Sant's Psycho - remake of the same year, the role of the psychiatrist . This was followed by roles in major Hollywood productions, for example in David Lynch's Mulholland Drive - Street of Darkness , as well as in mainstream works like 3 Angels for Charlie - Full Power and Olympus Has Fallen - The World in Danger . From 2007 to 2008 he was seen in a leading role in the television series Heroes . His guest role in an episode of Breaking Bad in 2013 earned him the 2014 Saturn Award . He took on the same role again in 2019 in El Camino: A "Breaking Bad" film .

From 1967 to 2019 Forster was involved in 185 film and television productions. He was a longtime member of the Triple Nine Society .

Forster was married to June Provenzano from 1966 to 1975. The relationship resulted in three daughters. His second marriage to Zivia Forster in 1978 also ended in divorce in 1980. Robert Forster died on October 11, 2019 with his family of a brain tumor . He left behind his longtime partner, four children and four grandchildren.
