Alligator II - The Mutation

The horror alligator , alternatively the killer alligator or alligator , is an animal horror film by Lewis Teague from 1980. The film is based on the myth crocodile in the canal from 1930, where a crocodile also lived in the sewage system for years. A sequel called Alligator II - The Mutation followed in 1991.

action

A girl named Marisa Kendall buys a baby alligator while on vacation in Florida . When she gets home in Chicago , however, her father flushes the alligator down the toilet. This is how Ramón, as the animal was called by Marisa, ends up in the city's sewers.

Twelve years have now passed. The alligator had fed on dead dogs in the sewer system, which had previously been given experimental substances to promote their growth. Under the influence of these substances, the animal grows to a size of twelve meters. Soon the first people also fall victim to him. Since parts of the corpses get caught in a filter system, the Chicago police intervened. The police officer David Madison initially assumes one or more serial killers. When he and his partner look for clues in the sewer system, the animal attacks and kills him. Madison tries to warn the public about the beast, but no one believes him. The influential tycoon Slade, who invested money in the illegal experiments with the dogs, tries to cover up this fact and to obstruct the investigation. Finally, David's supervisor advises the police officer to visit Marisa Kendall, who has now become a recognized reptile expert. Marisa deals with the case and soon afterwards initiates a large-scale search in the sewers. Although both the police and the National Guard take part in the search, the reptile manages to escape from the sewers to the surface. Thanks to the many witnesses on the street, the existence of the alligator has now been definitively proven. This finally arrives at the wedding party of the man who conducted the experiments on the dogs and kills him and several wedding guests. David Madison chases the alligator back into the sewer, where he can finally catch the animal and kill it with a load of dynamite . In the last shot, however, you learn that a baby alligator still exists, unnoticed by people.

criticism

"A routinely constructed and staged horror film, whose suggested time-critical perspective is overlaid by superficial entertainment effects."
