Jack Carter , actually Jack Chakrin , (born June 24, 1922 in Brooklyn , New York City , New York - † June 28, 2015 in Beverly Hills , California ) was an American actor , comedian and television presenter .

Life

Jack Carter starred in 383 Broadway performances between March 1956 and February 1957, partnering with Sammy Davis Jr. the character of Fred Campbell , one of the leading roles in the musical Mr. Wonderful .

Since the 1950s, he has had numerous guest roles on US television series , including Charming Jeannie , Detective Rockford - Call Enough, and Love Boat . In recent years he has played in Emergency Room , Monk and Desperate Housewives . For the first episode of the CBS - sitcom King of Queens , as before the second one year pilot was produced, he played Arthur Spooner . Carter was then replaced by Jerry Stiller before filming began on the series . The scenes with Carter had to be re-shot.

On US television, Carter hosted the not very successful game show Second Guessers and was a regular guest on the Ed Sullivan Show . His film credits include Viva Las Vegas alongside Elvis Presley , the horror film The Horror-Alligator and Mel Brooks - Comedy The History of the World .

Jack Carter died of respiratory failure in June 2015 at the age of 93 in Beverly Hills, California. He leaves behind his wife Roxanne, sons Michael and Chase, daughter Wendy and two grandchildren.
