Events

November 19: World premiere of Heaven's Gate (Director: Michael Cimino ). Although the film, which was initially three hours and forty minutes long, was shortened by 70 minutes after its premiere, it turned out to be box office poison. He can only bring in a small part of the production costs of around 44 million dollars. This failure marks the point in Hollywood history when the studios regained significantly more influence on film production.
Sharon Stone made her first film appearance in Woody Allen's Stardust Memories .
