John Guillermin

John Guillermin (born November 11, 1925 in London - † September 27, 2015 in Topanga , California ) was a British film director , film producer and screenwriter .

Life

John Guillermin made his debut as a feature film director in 1949 with the comedy High Jinks in Society . In the same year he also wrote his first screenplay for Melody in the Dark . His most famous works include Shots in Batasi , The Bridge of Remagen and King Kong . For the film adaptation of Death on the Nile , based on the novel of the same name by Agatha Christie , he was awarded the Evening Standard British Film Award in 1980. He also directed the catastrophe film Flammendes Inferno with Paul Newman and Steve McQueen in the leading roles, which won three Oscars in 1975 in the categories of best film editing , best camera and best original song .

Private life

Guillermin was married twice; the marriage with the actress Maureen Connell was divorced after 40 years, with his second wife he was married for 16 years until his death. John Guillermin died of a heart attack in Topanga, California , on September 27, 2015, at the age of 89 . He left behind his wife his daughter and a granddaughter.
