action

The African village of Mantu is attacked. The attacker's target is the dynamite store in the village. The village doctor can still transmit the name Slade over the radio before he dies. The next morning, the victims of the attack are buried. The present Tarzan is informed by a British police officer that dye has been found. Tarzan is convinced that the attack was not carried out by blacks, but by whites who disguised themselves as blacks using the dye.

Tarzan meets the bush pilot Angie, who heard the name Slade over the radio. Tarzan knows Slade and remembers him as an unscrupulous, over dead criminal. With a canoe he goes in search of the gangster. Angie follows him with her Cessna, but falls into the river after an engine failure. Tarzan saves her from a crocodile and continues his search with her.

Slade is on his river boat with four comrades: the cheater Dino, the drunkard O'Bannion, the former Nazi Kruger and with his Italian girlfriend Toni. You are on your way to a secret diamond mine. They need the dynamite to mine the gemstones. A machine failure leads to a dispute among the gang members. Tarzan and Angie can also catch up. The gang goes ashore, Dino gets into quicksand and sinks. They find the boat peppered with arrows. While Slade and O'Bannion leave the boat, Kruger is able to injure Tarzan with a load of dynamite. Still, Tarzan can kill O'Bannion. Kruger tries to get Toni to tell him the location of the mine. Kruger's attempt to kill Slade fails. Slade lets him live and goes to the mine with him and Toni.

Angie takes care of the injured Tarzan. She is captured while attempting to steal drugs from Slade's boat. Slade tries to lure Tarzan into a trap with Angie. Kruger frees Angie and lets her run to Tarzan. Toni wants to warn Slade, but falls into the trap intended for Tarzan and dies. Kruger can convince Slade that Toni was afraid of a roaring lion and therefore fled. Now the two men make their way to the mine. Slade wants to kill Tarzan first. Kruger fears for his diamond share, so he attacks Slade. Slade turns out to be stronger and pushes Kruger into a mine shaft.

Tarzan is nursed back to health by Angie and falls in love with her. Much to Angie's displeasure, however, he wants to catch Slade, who does not belong in the jungle. The final battle between Tarzan and Slade takes place on a river cliff. Slade can tie up Tarzan with a lasso, but he breaks his shackles and can throw Slade down the cliff. Tarzan hears the horn of the river boat. Angie has boarded the boat and is bringing it to Mantu along with the dynamite. Tarzan watches her go but decides to stay in the jungle.
