Tarzan and the Golden Lion (Original title: Tarzan and the Golden Lion ) is an American adventure film by JP McGowan from 1927 based on the novel of the same name by Edgar Rice Burroughs .
action
Lord Greystoke lives as Tarzan in his home in the heart of Africa. He is waiting for some family members to arrive, including his wife, sister Betty, and her fiancé. There is also Jack Bradley, who works for the Greystokes.
The native Weesimbo tells Tarzan of a mysterious city of diamonds from which he escaped. Tarzan approaches the expected visit and is able to repel the attack of the unscrupulous criminal Esteban on the group. When Tarzan goes hunting, Esteban attacks the unprotected home and takes Betty prisoner. Tarzan takes up the pursuit with the lion Jad-Bal-Ja.
Cadj, the high priest in the Diamond Palace, learns of the arrival of Esteban and his gang. Cadj has Betty kidnapped, but he doesn't want to save her, he wants to sacrifice her to his lion god Numa. Weesimbo shows Tarzan the way into town. Tarzan kills Numa and is considered a new god because of his relationship with Jad-Bal-Ja, who kills Esteban.

He later became the author's son-in-law.
The film premiered on March 20, 1927. In Germany it appeared in a restored version on December 1, 1996 on German television in a broadcast by the cultural channel ARTE . Previously, the long-lost film was re-emerged as a French copy in the 1990s.
