Tarzan and the Hunters (Original title: Tarzan and the Trappers ) is an American film from 1958. Gordon Scott played the title role of the character invented by Edgar Rice Burroughs .

action

The unscrupulous animal hunters Schroeder and Rene accidentally shoot a native while hunting. When the two also shoot a mother elephant to catch her young, Tarzan tries to prevent worse things and goes in search of the men. Chief Tyana is able to convince Tarzan to bring the local police out of Brandini instead of practicing vigilante justice for his killed warrior. Schroeder and Rene have meanwhile taken Tarzan's son Boy and the chimpanzee Cheta hostage to prevent Tarzan's intervention.

When Tarzan discovers the animal catcher camp, he calls the elephants for help with his distinctive scream. These trample down the camp and destroy the cages with the captured animals. Boy and Cheta also manage to escape. When Tarzan overpowers the two animal catchers, the police arrive and arrest the hunters.

Shortly afterwards, the businessman Lapin asks Tarzan under a pretext for a meeting at his trading post. Lapin claims to be able to prevent future incidents like the one with the animal trappers. Arrived at the trading post, Tarzan realizes that Lapin is only looking for the abandoned city of Zarbo, which is said to be rich in treasures. At his side is the hunter Sikes, the brother of the arrested Schroeder who wants to take revenge on Tarzan. Tarzan manages to escape from the trading post after a fight with Sike's henchmen.

In order to find the way to the city, Lapin has the chief Tyana kidnapped. Tarzan is able to free Tyana from the villain's camp and follows the troop into the hidden city. Once in Zarbo, Lapin discovered that there was neither gold nor jewels there. Tarzan, who has already taken out some of the native porters, begins to threaten them from one of the upper floors. This sounds so threatening to the remaining natives that they flee. In the ensuing fight, Tarzan defeats Lapin and Sikes and delivers them to the police.
