action

Shortly before his wedding to his fiancé Jane, Tarzan, who now lives in England, receives a cry for help from his old friend, the voodoo priest Mugambe, which he sees as a vision . At the burial of the tribal chief, a group of poachers attacked the village and stole a golden amulet , intended as an offering for the dead, and then burned the village down. Tarzan travels to Africa alone. The amulet shows him the way to the holy city of Opar. Mugambe asks Tarzan to ask the white men to hand over the amulet. Otherwise the natives are threatened with great annihilation. The chief's son Kaya mistrusts Tarzan, but lets him go.

Tarzan confronts the leader of the poachers, Ravens. He deciphered the inscription on the amulet and has no intention of returning it. On the contrary: he is already preparing to search for Opar. Jane followed Tarzan and is now in Misungu. Ravens quickly discovers that the young woman is Tarzan's fiancée. When Tarzan releases the poachers 'captured animals, Ravens' collar bursts. He gives orders to kidnap Jane from the hotel. Tarzan, who overheard the conversation, manages to be in front of Raven's men in the hotel and to flee into the jungle with Jane. Once in his old treehouse Jane closes fast friendship with the great apes , called the Tarzan as his family. The natives tell Tarzan that Ravens is on the way to Opar. Kaya doesn't share his medicine man's opinion about Tarzan. He considers it superfluous because it has become soft in civilization.

Jane gets into an exchange of fire with some of the treasure hunters. Tarzan is bitten by a cobra while trying to save her . Raven manages to take control of Jane when she lures his men away from the injured Tarzan. Mugambe appears and uses magic to save Tarzan from death. Ravens has meanwhile discovered the buried entrance in the rock to the holy city. When the gang set up their explosive charges, they are attacked by Kaya and his men. Ravens releases the explosive charge with a targeted shot so that the remaining men can escape into the cave.

Instead of following, the natives begin to close the entrance. When Tarzan arrives and learns Jane is in the cave, he asks Kaya to follow the men. The young chief agrees. In the cave passages, Raven's men fall into a hidden trap and lose another man as a result. When Tarzan also gets into the trap door, he is discovered by Ravens. In the following fight, Tarzan succeeds in freeing Jane from the hands of the treasure hunters. However, the two are buried by an explosive charge. Kaya, who has regained respect for Tarzan, has followed the group and rescues him and Jane.

You follow the treasure hunters outside to find the holy city of Opar. Mugambe turns out to be Opar's protector, the hunters' bullets ricochet off him. To support Tarzan and Kaya, he creates an army of warriors from the bones of their ancestors . Only Ravens managed to escape to the temple. Tarzan follows him and a duel ensues inside the temple. Ravens outwits Tarzan and gets into the main chamber. As he sits on the golden throne , he is burned by the curse of the gods. Tarzan gives the stolen amulet back to Kaya. The planned wedding between Tarzan and Jane takes place in the jungle.
