Donald Arthur

Donald Arthur (born April 29, 1937 in New York City , New York , † September 21, 2016 in Munich , Germany ) was an American , German-speaking actor , opera singer and voice actor . He lived in Europe since 1960 . As a dubbing actor he was best known for his distinctive and variable bass voice .

Life

Donald Arthur appeared as an opera singer. He has worked in the media for several years, working as an actor, screenwriter , presenter , translator , chanson writer , dubbing and commentary. Donald Arthur has dubbed in over ten languages, including lending the German voice to Peter Ustinov , James Earl Jones and Orson Welles, as well as numerous puppet and cartoon characters. He lent the English voice to Gustl Bayrhammer , Günter Strack and Walter Sedlmayr .

He was also the narrator in the American version of the television documentary 2000 Years of Christianity and spoke Rudi Gutendorf in the English version of Rudolph Herzog's Der Ball ist ein Sauhund .

His best-known speaking roles were Boober from the Fraggles , the channel igator in the Augsburger Puppenkiste feature film The Story of Monty Spinneratz (here he spoke both the German and the English version), the butler Igor from Count Duckula and his long-standing roles as head chef .
