Walt Disney Records ( WDR ) is a record label owned by Disney . This “flagship label” of the Disney Music Group was originally founded in 1956 under the name “Disneyland Records”. In its early days, Disneyland Records marketed recordings made by children. The sister label, called “Buena Vista Records”, markets the soundtracks of the films as well as the recordings of former Disney stars such as Annette Funicello and Hayley Mills . In 1989 the label adopted its current name.

marketing

Since 2007 several editions by Miley Cyrus , Selena Gomez , Demi Lovato , the Jonas Brothers or various pieces from high school musicals with various so-called "publicity stunts" have been published. A “publicity stunt” is a planned process by the entrepreneur with the aim of arousing the awareness of the buyer so that the product becomes a branded item .

Disney co-branded various artists to better market new products. The most important target are countries where artists are less known.
