Life

Bassenge began his career at Bayerischer Rundfunk as an employee of Zündfunks . Known for radio plays as well as radio play and film music, Bassenge mainly works for ARD . He played resonator guitar ( Hawaiian guitar ), double bass , electric bass and organ in German bands such as Sparifankal , Embryo or Dullijöh as well as in studio projects .

In his audio pieces, Bassenge deals with the connections between writing and language, language and music, the non-verbal components of language, the crystalline structure of sounds. In terms of compilation, he works with archive material, which he assembles and further processes musically, as in the three-part audio piece “schallarchiv” (with Bernhard Jugel). In “sprechmaschinenfest”, the same team explores the roots of linguistics and speech synthesis from Leonhard Euler and Wolfgang von Kempelen to modern navigation systems.

In personal union, Bassenge writes and sets his pieces to music and also directs. Due to his multi-faceted commitment, he has already received various awards for radio work in the course of his career. These include the Civis Prize , Prix Futura (Honorable Mention), Prix Italia (Honorable Mention), ARD Online Award, Prix Marulić , Grand Prix Nova and the multiple free choice for the radio play of the month . As a speaker at the radio play forum NRW and at the radio play symposium on the Eider, he is dedicated to the care of young talent.

His audio art piece “shashlyk for paik” has been part of the permanent exhibition since the Nam June Paik Art Center in South Korea opened in autumn 2008.
