from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Trikont Music Publishing is an independent record label and music publishing company based in Munich, in 1967 within the same Trikont publisher has emerged. In 1980 the publishing house dissolved. As a result, the independent record label Trikont - Our Voice - Our own Voice was founded. The trademark of the label is to publish “music from below”, which is supposed to counteract the prevailing expert culture as well as the commercial smoothness.

Background and story

The Trikont label was originally founded as a book publisher in the late 1960s. He was considered to be one of the best-known publishing houses for the protest and alternative movement of the 1968s. A few years later the music came along. At first they did not produce their own records, but distributed those by left-wing artists who had appeared elsewhere: von Ton Steine Scherben , Pete Seeger and Barbara Dane .

Trikont's first in-house production was the album We liberate ourselves with self-composed songs by the Sponti group Arbeitersache from Munich, to which the members of the Trikont publishing collective belonged. The second album was songs from women on Trikont in 1974 - from today on there is my program of “women's groups from Munich, Frankfurt and Darmstadt”. It was the first LP in Germany with explicitly feminist songs, published by "der Frauenoffensive im Trikont-Verlag"; a series of the publishing house, from the 1974 Frauenoffensive , the first women's book publisher in German-speaking countries, emerged. Furthermore, the gay movement's first German rock record was released on Trikont in 1977 with Schwul von Warmer Südwind . In 1980, the publishing house and the label, which became an independent company, separated with Achim Bergmann as the only partner: Trikont - Our Voice - Our Own Voice.

Over the years, the Trikont music label focused on Bavarian music and published artists such as Georg Ringsgwandl , Dullijöh and Hans Söllner on the one hand, and compilations with older recordings such as the Voices of Bavaria series on the other . Another focus was on music-historical samplers, for example with Finnish tango or Greek rebetiko , recordings of the song La Paloma , Ethiopian jazz or mariachi . In recent years Trikont has also published artists such as LaBrassBanda , Kinderzimmer Productions , Bernadette La Hengst and Attwenger . Around 500 records and CDs by musicians and bands have left the house in Munich-Giesing since it was founded.

Achim Bergmann, who ran the publishing house (in recent years together with his partner and later wife Eva Mair-Holmes), died on March 1, 2018 at the age of 74. Eva Mair-Holmes, who continues to run the publishing house, was awarded the City of Munich Music Prize in April 2018 , which was presented on July 24th at the Munich Volkstheater.
