Andreas Weichelt (born April 23, 1936 in Leipzig ) is a politician ( SPD ) from Bremen and was a member of the Bremen citizenship .

education and profession

After graduating from high school, Weichelt studied industrial engineering at the Technical University of Braunschweig from 1961 to 1969 and graduated with a degree in engineering. from. Until 1973 he worked at the Federal Research Center for Agriculture (FAL) in Braunschweig . He did his doctorate in engineering in Braunschweig.

From 1973 to 1983 he was employed at the University of Bremen in the field of business administration, most recently as a senior government councilor

Weichelt is married to Uta Weichelt; both have a son.

politics

Weichelt has been a member of the SPD since 1971 and was active in various committees and functions in the SPD local association Walle in Bremen as OV chairman from 1978 to 1995 as well as in the SPD sub-district Bremen-West and in the SPD regional association Bremen .

From 1973 to 1999 he was a member of the Bremen citizenship for 16 years and worked in various deputations and committees of the citizenship, including in the building deputation and as chairman of the port deputation. He was port policy spokesman for the SPD parliamentary group in the citizenry. From 1983 to 1987 he was on the Bremen State Advisory Board for Art in Public Spaces .

Weichelt had been volunteering for the Bremen Workers' Welfare Association (AWO) since the 1980s ; initially on the board of the AWO district association of the state of Bremen. In 1999 he became chairman of the AWO district board. He initiated structural reforms at the AWO, which now consisted of a management board and a supervisory board as the presidium. Weichelt was now president of the AWO in Bremen until 2008; he was followed by Senator Eva-Maria Lemke in the office. He acted as a federal auditor in the Federal Association of AWO .
