Music Prize of the City of Munich
The Music Prize of the City of Munich has been awarded every two years since 1992 (at 15,000 DM), and since 2000 it has been awarded by the Munich City Council every three years, alternating with the Theater Prize and the Dance Prize of the City of Munich .
The music prize is intended to honor the outstanding overall work of artists or ensembles who have contributed to establishing Munich as a city of music and reputation. They must have their place of residence or their place of work in Munich or the Munich region, or their work must be closely linked to Munich's musical life. The right of nomination lies with a commission appointed by the city council, consisting of expert jurors and members of the voluntary city council.
The award is endowed with 10,000 euros.
