Thomas Palzer (born April 10, 1956 in Mainz ) is a German author , journalist , essayist , writer , filmmaker and radio broadcaster, including his own texts.

Life

Thomas Palzer studied philosophy and German at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich , at the University of Vienna and in Bayreuth. He began his literary work in 1979 as co-editor of the magazine Mode und Desperation (1978 to 1986). In the mid-1980s, he began to work as a journalist at Zündfunk , the youth radio in the Bavarian radio broadcasting company . It was here that his own contributions to the literary program Pop Sunday were broadcast, which he read himself. Philosophizing in regular columns , he contributed to the analysis of the zeitgeist .

From 1983 to 1989 he co-organized the reading series Sage & Schreibe together with Franz Dobler and Lorenz Schröter (Lorenz Lorenz).

With Palzer's first television reports on the subject of culture and zeitgeist, viewers became known in 1990 in the broadcast Capriccio of the Bavarian radio and in the ARD cultural report . Palzer is especially the speaker of the texts he wrote himself in radio broadcasts .

In the 2018/19 winter semester he taught essays at the Leipzig Institute for Literature .

In addition to his literary work, Palzer has been publishing numerous features on cultural topics since the 1980s . He lives and works in Leipzig .
