Franz Dobler (* 1959 in Schongau , Bavaria ) is a German writer , journalist and DJ .

life and work

In addition to novels and collections of short stories , Dobler has also published non-fiction books since 1988 and is the editor of various music compilations . In his work he deals with cultural (focus on pop culture / subculture ) and political issues. The focus is often criticism of conservative forces in their native Bavaria, but also the affection for progressive figures and sympathetic, weird characters there.

His love for country music, which he developed in the late 1980s, increasingly became a topic of his writing. He published a country column in 1999 under the title Auf des toten Mannes Kiste , which he wrote for the daily newspaper Junge Welt and which he has published regularly to this day (2019) . In 2002 he published the 70th birthday of the musician, the Johnny Cash - Biography The Beast in Me . Since then he has been one of the most renowned country experts in Germany. He has been on stage regularly with Hubl Greiner since 2004 . As The DJ Hoerspiel Ensemble , they combine DJing with sound carriers that contain different forms of language or text, with political speech, borderline pornographic statements, abstract and concrete radio play sounds and electronic music .

Dobler has lived in Augsburg with his wife and daughter since 1991 .

Awards

In 2015 Dobler was awarded the German Crime Prize for A Bull on the Train for the best crime story published in 2014. With his successor, a slap in the face , he achieved third place in the national category in 2017 . Both novels landed in 5th place in the annual ranking of the crime thriller list .
