The ARD Audiothek is the joint audio portal of the regional broadcasting corporations of ARD and Deutschlandradios on the Internet . The offer was officially taken up as a mobile app on November 8, 2017 on the occasion of the ARD radio play days in Karlsruhe . A beta web version has also been available since November 2018; it replaces the radio reports in the ARD media library , which has only offered video content since then. The ARD Audiothek is editorially supported by the online editorial team ARD.de in Mainz .
In April 2018, the ARD Audiothek was awarded the German Digital Award in silver in the category "Mobile Apps - User Experience / Usability". After a year, the mobile app version had been installed more than 510,000 times and had around 21 million audio views. According to the Google Play Store , the Android app recorded more than 100,000 downloads in October 2019.

Numerous programs and contributions are offered as audio-on-demand and for download via the ARD media library . These are mainly in-house productions that were broadcast on the ARD radio waves. All content can be accessed for different lengths of time after the broadcast , depending on the media law situation.
The audios in the ARD audio library can be accessed in various ways: Directly on the entry page are current recommendations from the editors and special dossiers on thematic focuses. In addition, the offer can be sorted according to topics and genres such as " radio play ", " documentation & reportage " (includes radio features ) and " comedy & satire ". In addition, the audios can be called up sorted by station.
