Hubl Greiner (* 1955 in Hohenpeißenberg ) is a German musician, composer, producer, filmmaker and photographer. He was the founder of the German band The Blech .

Life

Hubl Greiner is considered an unconventional, innovative and experimental artist. Inspired by the musical subculture outside of the mainstream, he began to play drums and bass on an autodidactic basis in the early 1970s. Its influences can be traced back to jazz, rock, folk, punk, sound art, noise, new music, the classic avant-garde of the 20th century or other genres. During this time he was already experimenting with unconventional sound generators such as everyday noises, tape recorders and machines.

In 1978 Greiner lived for a short time with the musicians of the Henry Cow band in London. Back in Germany he studied at the Jazz School Munich and founded the band "Allgäu" together with Ludwig Schmid-Kemmeter.

Dissatisfied with the willingness of the then established music publishers to get involved in creative forms of expression of music, he joined the musician network Schneeball in 1978. Schneeball-Records was the first record label in Germany that was independent of the music industry and that was completely organized and financed by musicians. The musicians produced and controlled production, promotion, booking, cover design, production and marketing themselves and enabled the distribution of their sound carriers via a network of colleagues and friends. All over Europe there were similar organizations like Rock in Opposition etc.

In 1983 he set up his own recording studio as well as the music publisher Hubl Enterprises and, together with HJ Richter, the label Heute music productions.

As a musical border crosser he was a member of the political rock band Schäggi Bädsch (1980 to 1983), founded the German cult band The Blech (Ruthless Entertainment) in the 1980s together with Rupert Volz, and in the 1990s the Hulu Project together with the Italian artist and musician Luigi Archetti , the DJ Hoerspiel Ensemble with the writer Franz Dobler and the Tannengriesel collective with the musician and publisher Ulrich Rützel .

Since the beginning of 1980 he has also been working as a radio play maker, sound researcher, music consultant, lecturer, film and photo artist. In total he releases over 60 LP / CD.

As a producer, he has supported countless acts and artists such as Christof Dienz , Stepanida Borisova, Die Knödel , Iva Bittová , Hanna Fearns , Mohamed Badawi , Moussa Selkh, Ganpurev Dagvan and The Jellyfish Kiss.

He worked on cross-genre projects at the interface between acoustic, electronic, composed and improvised music, also in connection with dance, painting, poetry, film and drama. a. with Ferdinand Richard, Helmut Bieler-Wendt, Tom Cora , Mani Neumeier , Roman Bunka , Dieter Moebius, Jean Detheux, Sohrab Saadat Ladjevardi, Eric Babak, Claudia Knupfer, Thomas Maos, Shirley Anne Hofmann, Sequoia Crosswhite, Jones, Jeneda and Clayson Benally , Steve Gaeta, Erwin Ditzner, Hans Reffert, Christian Burchard, Stephan Lamby, Roland Schaeffer, Rupert Huber, Matthias Loibner, Tunji Beier , Rüdiger Oppermann, Alvaro Peña-Rojas, Joachim Krebs, Tilman Küntzel, Jan Fride, Uwe von Trotha, Harry Coltello, Mohamed Abdelwahab Kununu, Norbert Dömling, Mohamed Atif Abdel Hamid, Amro Sawwaf, Tahir Mahmoud, Amro Subhi, Iman Aliy Ad-din, Lamidi Ayankunle, Muraina Oyelami or the Wuerttemberg Philharmonic.

Concert tours have taken him to Japan, South America, Canada, Russia, the Sakha Republic (Siberia), Lebanon and other countries in Western and Eastern Europe.

From 2005 to 2006 he was a lecturer at the Baden-Württemberg state youth education and music advisor for the dm drugstore. From 2007 to 2011 he was the technical director involved in setting up the Nihal European University in Sudan. In 2008 he developed an educational concept for the musical education of street children in Sudan.

As part of his production activities, Greiner was interested in the subject of how search engines work as early as the late 1990s . He conducts studies in perceptual psychology and develops communication concepts and marketing strategies for the internet distribution of music outside the mainstream.
