Christof Dienz

Christof Dienz (* 1968 in Innsbruck ) is an Austrian musician and composer.

Life

After attending the Musikgymnasium Innsbruck, Christof Dienz studied bassoon with Milan Turković at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna from 1991 and graduated with distinction in 1999. In 1992 he founded Die Knödel , an ensemble that lasted until 2000 and for which he also composed. From 1997 to 2000 he was a bassoonist in the stage orchestra of the Vienna State Opera . Since 2000 he has been working as a freelance composer and musician; The zither increasingly appears next to the bassoon .

In 2005 he was composer in residence at the Composers Forum Mittersill. The album Dienz Zithered was awarded the Ö1 Pasticcio Prize of the program Pasticcio in 2005. In 2006 he was nominated for the FM4 Award, which is presented as part of the Amadeus Austrian Music Award . In 2007 he received the sponsorship award from the City of Vienna . In 2010 he was awarded first prize in the categories of instrumental and vocal works at the Innsbruck City Art Prize. In 2012 he was heard on the zither with the Jazz Big Band Graz on their album Urban Folktales .
