Hoanzl ( Hoanzl GmbH and Hoanzl Agentur GmbH ) is a Viennese artist agency , sales company and publisher with a focus on Austrian film , Austrian cabaret , theater and music .

history

The company was founded in 1991 by Georg Hoanzl as an artist agency Künstler-Agentur Georg Hoanzl GmbH . The first cabaret appearances, for example for Andreas Vitásek and Josef Hader , were organized and advertised from 1987. In 1995 the production of sound carriers such as the CD "privat" by Josef Hader started, and in 1996 Georg Hoanzl Vertriebs GmbH was founded. In 2001 the production of DVDs was started and in 2002 the Hoanzl publishing house was founded.

On November 16, 2008, the office was affected by fire. Evidently, renovation work triggered a smoldering fire . Rumors of arson were immediately denied by Georg Hoanzl, the head of the agency.

The company, which has many big names in Austrian cabaret under contract, employs around 48 people. The video and DVD series "Best of Cabaret" is also published by Hoanzl.

On December 23, 2008 the publishing house signed an agreement with the ORF subsidiary ORF Enterprise, which guarantees Hoanzl the exclusive exploitation rights of the ORF archive for DVDs and a web media library for 10 years. The agreement caused a sensation in the ORF Board of Trustees because it was made without an invitation to tender, the ORF is planning its own exploitation subsidiary and a contract duration of 10 years seems too long to critics. However, after the conclusion of this contract had been criticized primarily within ORF, Georg Hoanzl unilaterally withdrew the contract.

In 2014 Georg Hoanzl-founded with Michael Niavarani and Helen Zellweger the Schultz & Baseball Bühnenverlag GmbH . At the same time, Hoanzl and Michael Niavarani founded the production company Niavarani & Hoanzl GmbH , which operates the Globe Theater in Vienna .
