Viktor Gernot, born as Gernot Jedlička (born January 18, 1965 in Enns , Upper Austria ), is an Austrian artist , cabaret artist , actor , voice imitator , TV presenter , musician and singer . His stage name has now become his legal name.

Life

Gernot is the son of former Army Brigadier Leo Jedlička and his wife Ingrid. He has two brothers and a half brother. He spent his childhood at his father's place of work in Wöllersdorf in the Wiener Neustadt district .

During his school days he learned to play the guitar and received singing lessons. As a student at the Wiener Neustädter Bundes-Oberstufenrealgymnasium (division: sport), he concentrated on swimming. As a member of the swimming junior national team, he became Austrian team champion in 1981 with the Wiener Neustadt swimming community and in 1982 indoor champion in the 4 × 200-meter freestyle relay. Gernot graduated from high school in 1983.

1985–1989 he studied musicals, operettas and chansons at the Vienna Conservatory . Gernot graduated with a diploma examination.

Gernot attended acting workshops with Michael A. Mohapp at the Vienna Graumanntheater and a master class for singing with David Bender and Barbara Meister from the New York City Opera . He also completed jazz dance training with Kim Duddy and Dennis Callahan and tap with Michael Estes.

During his studies, Gernot worked as a bass guitarist and background singer in performances by Roy Black , Karel Gott , Chris Roberts and Nicole .

In the Theater an der Wien he was the original cast of Wolfmann and Father / Sherlock Holmes in Freudiana and in the premiere cast of Elisabeth he played Emperor Franz Joseph . In the Raimund Theater he played Grantaire / Bamatabois and Mr. Thenardier in Les Misérables . In the European premiere of Disney's Beauty and the Beast he was Lumière; for this performance he was awarded the first German musical award IMAGE in 1996. In September 2000, he was Pharaoh for the second time at the revival of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat . In the Austrian premiere of City of Angels in Amstetten , he played the leading role of the screenwriter Stine.

Since 1994 he has been a member of the cabaret group Die Hectiker and has participated in several stage programs. Subito (ARD) and the 1997 Romy TV Award comedy series The Sick Sisters were the four cabaret artists' most successful TV outings.

In the 2000/2001 season he was emcee in megalomania makes happy in the cabaret Simpl . He made a name for himself as a musician with his band Animal House , and in 2001 toured Austria with Viktor Gernot & His Best Friends .

In ORF was Viktor Gernot in 1999 moderator of Romy Gala, hosted in April 2000 he top spot, in summer, the Summer Show All TV, in December, he played together with his partner and co-author Michael Niavarani in the comedy show vodka orange. He worked from 1995 to 1999 in the comedy series The Sick Sisters . Together with Werner Sobotka , Elke Winkens , Andrea Händler and Reinhard Nowak , he shot fear of heights in 1994 under the direction of Houchang Allahyari with Dolores Schmidinger , Fritz Karl , Leon Askin , Andrea Händler and Michael Niavarani. In 2010 he starred in the film The Crazy World of Ute Bock .

Since autumn 2004 he has had regular guest appearances on the ORF program What's New? . In 2005 Viktor Gernot and Michael Niavarani took to the stage at the Simpl cabaret in Vienna with the program Emotional Reality - An Evening Among Friends. From 2006 he hosted the TV show Really Funny . Along with Michael Niavarani he led from 2010 the program two paragons on , for it with the Austrian Cabaret Award were honored of 2010.

From September 2013 he celebrated his 25th anniversary in professional show business with his solo project Im Glashaus . In the course of this, he also celebrates with his best friends and organizes the concert series In Full Swing and a pre-Christmas special X-Mas is here.

In 2017 he was on tour with Monika Gruber .
