Fritz Karl (* 21st December 1967 as Karl Friedrich in Gmunden , Upper Austria ) is an Austrian theater, film and television actor .

Career

After Fritz Karl completed his training with the Vienna Boys' Choir , he attended the Max Reinhardt Seminar in Vienna for two semesters . From 1986 he had engagements mainly at the Vienna theater, the Volkstheater and for five years at the Theater in der Josefstadt .

The director Dieter Berner first used Karl on television in 1988 in the workers' saga Die Verlockung . In the entire German-speaking area he became known as Sebastian Reidinger in the series Julia - An Unusual Woman , whom he played in the first three seasons. In 1994 Karl played the young Mario in Houchang Allahyari's fear of heights , who, released from prison, found a job as a farmhand in a village and settled in well there. Private life

Fritz Karl lives with his colleague Elena Uhlig , whom he met in 2006, on Lake Traunsee . With her he has two sons and two daughters (* 2007, 2010, 2015, 2018), as well as three children from a previous marriage who grew up with their mother, including the actors Valerian Karl (* 1988) and Aaron Karl (* 1990).

Awards

In 1995, Karl was awarded the Max Ophüls Prize as the best young actor for his role as the young criminal Mario in Houchang Allahyari's fear of heights . In 1998 he received the Austrian Shooting Star award in European film.
